I am a British born painter living in Greece for over twenty years, where I work in oils on canvas and in watercolour on paper in a colourful semi abstract style. My work is shown in Athens, Crete and elsewhere.
When living in Edinburgh, Scotland, I had a W.A.S.P.S. studio and exhibited in galleries
throughout the UK. My paintings are in collections including in the UK House of Commons Art Collection. Over the last 9 years I have been leading ‘plein air’ painting workshops in Crete.
My painting has evolved over the years into a marriage between abstraction and some figuration. I use abstraction and colour to convey emotions, an unfamiliar environment and the language of spirituality. Figuration is used to highlight a theme.
Concepts
A recurrent theme is landscape or birds and animals under threat. I love being ‘close to Nature’ as the Greeks say. This means literally being out in the countryside but also conveys that sense of holding nature sacred.
